Speaking at the discussion, the Chairperson of Walk of Hope, Mr Clarkson Kasungo, indicated that their organisation is fully committed to meet the government half way in terms of dealing with GBV. He stated that they intend to do so by conducting activities which will raise awareness on GBV. He added that the main objective of their project is to encourage men to voice out against GBV as well empower them to have the ability to stand firm against all temptations leading to GBV.
He further encouraged men to be responsible by reporting GBV related issues to relevant authorities and also be knowledgeable on law and human rights. He said that he noticed that men tend to bottle up which is one of the contributory factors to GBV.

Also at the event, Ms Gorata Ntshwabi , who is an officer at the Gender Affairs Department, highlighted that the government is committed to eliminating all forms of GBV so as to promote gender equality hence the reason why they are fully behind this initiative. She also said that the National Policy on Gender Development urges the nation as well as organisations and movements to be part of discussions surrounding gender issues. “I therefore encourage you to unite and fight against GBV to uphold this policy.” she said.
Lastly, the Guest of Honour, Mrs Daphney Muzila, who is a finalist at Mrs African World stated that we don’t need to be part of an organisation to fight against GBV and make change. “We must stand together and strongly condemn GBV acts.” she said.
In an effort to upholding their mandate of the project ‘A Makgela a butswe’ Walk of hope has signed a memorandum of Understanding with finalist Mrs Muzila committing to fight against GBV and also deal with other gender related issues especially those affecting children.
