Despite the recently commissioned Gamononyane-Molepolole NSC Water connection project, Molepolole residents continue to experience acute water shortage. The residents will have to endure few more years of buying water.
The Gamononyane Molepolole North South Carrier Water connection project which was commissioned around November 2023, brought happiness to the residents. This happiness was short-lived as more problems emerged immediately after the pipes were opened. The old pipes burst owing to pressure and some areas experienced low to no pressure as the old pipes are clogged by lime and rust.
WUC is said to be replacing pipelines at burst areas and removing blockages. In the meantime residents will have to dig deep into thier pockets to get water for daily home chores.
The problem is expected to be alleviated after completion of the ongoing water Reticulation and Rehabilitation project which entails construction of a Wastewater Treatment Plant, primary sewer lines, pump stations and constriction of Primary water infrastructure.
In an interview with Kweneng Chronicles, some residents expressed disappointment with how the authorities are handling the water shortage issue.
“Re lapile e bile re chonne ke go reka metsi tsatsi le tsatsi mme metsi a tletse mo ditseleng a nowa ke dikgomo, ha o re wa botsa gatwe di pipe diblokile kamoso gatwe di thubegile, kamoso gatwe go dirwa ke kgaogo ya motlakase, mme mo mafelong a mangwe metsi a tswa hela sentle” said one resident.
