Tribute To Gaone Ge Ditirafalo

The Gee i knew..on behalf of Kweneng Chronicles let me relay my condolences to the family. I first met Gaone last year when she was planning a lupus concert at Lemepe. Such a bubbly soul. Gaone was passionate about sensitising the community on Lupus, a rare condition she lived with.

It was during the lengthy presentations at Lupus concerts that i came to know how bad the disease was. Gee fought and lived through it all. She made music and lived despite living with such a bad health condition. “You lived your life like a candle in the wind.”

Seeing a purple ribbon will always remind me of you. FYI, the purple ribbon is for Lupus.

Just a quick look at what Lupus is:

Lupus is a long-term autoimmune disorder that affects multiple organs of the body. The immune system, instead of protecting gets hyperactive and begins to attack the healthy tissues, leading to severe fatigue.

Lupus has severe financial implications as most of the prescriptions are not available in government hospitals

Although i didn’t reach out in your last days, i am comforted by the fact that i attended all your events.

Rest in peace Gee, you ran your race. A good race.

Your achievements will live on forever.

*winning a Muler Forte African Literature award on the 7th March 2021.

*being among the top 3 of My Star Botswana 2013.

As Kweneng Chronicles we derive comfort from the fact that we were part of your journey, we believed in you and your noble campaigns.

Death be not proud. Farewell princess
