Meet Mr. Keboatlhotse Medupe from Letlhakeng . He has been Executive Chairman of District 11 crime prevention commitee since 1984. His passion for safer communities is unparalleled.
District 11 includes police stations such as Takatokwane, Letlhakeng, Sojwe, Thamaga and Molepolole. He says he has been voted in and out throughout the years.
His job was to lead Letlhakeng in the fight against crime and to ensure that crime prevention commitees within the policing district remain effective and functional.
He did all this amazing work purely on volunteerism basis. The 79 year old says he was not paid but that meant nothing at all as his main aim was to see the district free of crime.
He says that through his leadership and dedication, stock theft and housebreaking crimes drastically reduced in the district. Medupe is a staunch believer in community work and upliftment and advised communities to work closely with law enforcement officers to combat crime.
When delivering his farewell speech, he lamented lack of interest by some station commanders in working with crime prevention commitees.
