DONKEY CARTS WILL NOT BE PHASED OUT ANYTIME SOON

Kweneng District Council chairman Allen Jacob says using Donkey carts as mode of transport for children around the district will not stop anytime soon.

He said this in an interview with Kweneng Chronicles citing budget constraints as they cannot afford to hire combis.

There are about 10 schools in Kweneng district that uses this mode of transport everyday to transport students to and from school. The cart operators are changed every year.

According to council chairman, in the beginning councils gave out the carts to the people but nowadays people buy the carts for themselves and equip them according to set guidelines such that children are protected in harsh weather conditions.
