KWENENG PEOPLE: BOIKOBO BEE KENOSI;LIVING POSITIVELY AGAINST ALL ODDS.

Boikobo Bee Kenosi is a vibrant and beautiful lady aged fourty two from Molepolole. She shared with Kweneng Chronicles on her  journey living positively with HIV, the trials and tribulations and how she conquered stigmatisation.

She says she got the virus as a teenager when she was only 19 years and that was the first time when she broke her virginity to someone she trusted the most. She has over twenty three (23) years of living with the virus. Boikobo officially tested positive in 2001 and enrolled for treatment in 2009. She went public about her HIV Status in 2018.

It was not an easy journey living with HIV as a young person because she faced a lot of challenges. Some of the challenges she came across was people  gossiping about her and also lost most of her friends since they could not cope with her status. “I was so depressed, at some point I just decided that I can not take it anymore”, declared Kenosi. “All these brought so much hatred & anger in my life” she added.

Kenosi states that the reason why she went public with her status is because she wanted to be the voice of the voiceless, she was tired of stigma & discrimination. She says being open about her status was a way of healing and motivating others who are still in the box concerning their status. “Its high time people know that our HIV status does not define us! Let us empower the community with the knowledge about the New Face of HIV to end Stigma & Discrimination”, said Kesosi.

Kenosi further emphasized those living with HIV  that if they listen to the doctors ,take medication well on time, take their advices and  do everything in moderation, they will live a healthy life.

Kenosi also offers online counseling to those who are in denial and she can be reached @Fb (BOIKOBO BEE KENOSI)
