Man Before Court For Failure To Comply With A Child Support Order 

Letokonyane Tiro Molamu of Modibedi ward in Molepolole was brought before court last week for 96  counts of failing to comply with a court order. On the 29 August 2007 Molamu was ordered by Court to pay P150 monthly as maintenance for a child he had with Marea Motseotsile. He defaulted on payments.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. To date, he owed P25 850. Magistrate Solomon Setshedi asked the mother where she was all these years as the money was meant for the maintenance and upkeep of the minor. She informed court that the issue has been pending at the police station as she reported the accused for failure to comply in 2010. 

However, baby daddy informed court that he has receipts as evidence that he has been supporting the child. He told court that sometimes last year he called the child who informed him that he was not benefiting from the maintenace money. In addition, the child has been staying with his grandmother since turning six months.

“Marea ga a itse gore ngwana o ja eng,” he said.  He told court the baby mama also deny him access to the baby.Tiro said it was also difficult to locate his baby as they sold the yard he knew and bought a new home. 

He was ordered to bring all relevant documents  in the next court sitting set for 4 April 2023.
