KWENENG EDUCATION REGION EXECELLENCE AWARDS; LOGO AND DIGITAL MEGAZINE LAUNCH; A NIGHT OF GLITZ AND GLAMOR

The Kweneng Education Region Office on Thursday launched  the Excellence Awards Logo as well as the Digital Magazine in Molepolole. The ideas were conceived in 2022 after the relaxation of the COVID 19 protocols.

When giving an overview of the Awards logo design, the Director Regional Operations Mr Steve Bothasitse said, they  ran a competition in November 2022 amongst all Kweneng  Junior and Senior Secondary Schools for the logo design. “These were independently marked and verified by ART teachers”, Bothasitse said.

Mr Bothasitse announced Ms Lebogang Letlamma of Kgari Sechele Senior Secondary School as the winner of the competion and scooped herself a voucher worth P1500, while  second prize went to Bofelo Madome of Masilo Junior Secondary School with a voucher of P1000 and lastly Tlotlo Lekaka from Boitshoko Junior Secondary School got position three with a voucher of P750.

He continued to thank all those  who sent in entries for a job well done and appreciated all those whose logos did not make it. Mr Bothasitse further mentioned that the Excellence awards will be held on the 26 May 2023 at Molepolole Institute of Health Sciences  (IHS) Sports Hall.  Teachers and learners who have scored 80% and above in their subjects will be awarded prizes.

He said the theme for this year’s awards  is ‘Dream, Discover Beyond COVID 19.’ I also thank all those who have already shown interest in delivering these awards”, said Bothasitse.

According to Ms Lebogang Letlamma, the brief of her logo is that the red graduation cap symbolises the success and excellence of standards in the journey of their education as learners, whilst the head symbolises the intelligence and brightness which makes learners think of their lives and future as well as holding on tight to their education. She further explained that the colour red represents the love and passion that has enabled the learners to succeed despite the COVID 19 complications while the blue  symbolises the calmness and focus on education and excellence.

When launching the Digital Magazine, Mr Onangone Samakata mentioned that he was intrigued by the artifacts produced by learners. He continued to say the  partnership came about after following regional exhibitions at Mafenyatlala mall in Molepolole, hence the thought of sharing learners’ work with others. Mr Samakata also said one can access the magazine on Facebook @thebwweekly.

On behalf of AWIL College ,the Marketing Manager Mr Winter Ngwenya thanked Kweneng Education Region Office for a 3 year partnership. He emphasised they will sponsor oncoming awards with a full multi media coverage.
