30 year old Onthusitse Gaselatwe of Ntloelengwae ward was today arraigned before magistrate Gaseitsiwe Tonoki on two counts of rape and unlawful wounding.
Particulars of the offence are that on 3rd January 2023 at or near Bokaa ward in Molepolole, he had carnal knowledge of a certain woman without consent.
On count 2, he is charged with unlawful wounding. He stabbed the victim with a sharp object on the back causing deep wounding still on the same date.
Prosecutor ASP Motshwari Mokamogo said some exhibits have been sent to the forensics. He further told court that the victim in the matter was initially released from hospital but has been readmitted as she has not recovered from the deep wound. The prosecutor informed court that they are monitoring her health and applied that the accused be remanded in custody.
For his part, accused pleaded with court to grant him bail as he is a breadwinner.
Magistrate gave prosecution time to investigate without the interference of the accused. He will mention on 26 January.
A source said the two are in a love relationship and on the day, the accused wanted sex and the lady did not give in to his demands, the accused got furious, stabbed and raped her.
