31 year old Kebabonye Lesole appeared before court on Thursday facing a single count of neglect of children. Particulars of the offence are that on or about 2 January 2023 near Mogogoru ward in Molepolole, being the parent to a 11 months old and 2 year old, without lawful excuse, neglected the children by leaving them without parental care nor showing any interest for a period of 2 days.
Prosecutor Uyapo Koketso informed court that the state was ready to proceed with the case. The magistrate said the court was not properly constituted on the day as there was no court reporter to proceed with the matter. For her part, accused said she was hospitalised and upon release she went out with friends for a night and she will never repeat the same mistake again.
Magistrate reminded her that it was not yet time for mitigation and the matter was postponed to 13 february for facts presentation.
A source said on 29 December, the 11 months boy was ill and was taken for medical attention where he was admitted and released in the afternoon of January 1st. On the 2nd accused disappeared leaving two minors without care of anyone.
The kids were found by her aunt. The unemployed lady has 4 kids in total and she is an orphan.
