MAN IN COURT FOR STEALING MONEY IN HIS POSSESSION


A 30 year old man of Phuthadikobo ward in Molepolole, Poloko Tsimamma  appeared today  before Molepolole Magistrate Court facing a single charge of Stealing by Agents.


Particulars of the offence are that between 24 November and 25 November 2021 at or near Lentsweletau Village, Poloko stole the sum of P40 000.00 belonging to Botswana Postal Services which money had been entrusted to Cash in Transit Security Services.

The money came into his possession by virtue of him being an employee of Cash in Transit security Services as a Supervisor, thereby being an agent of Botswana Postal Services.


A reliable source said they went to collect money at ABSA Bank and were supposed to distribute to different Post Offices. Upon counting the cash, workers at post office realised it was short of P40 000.00.


The accused Poloko Tsimamma admitted guilty and he is currently on bail pending trial.Principal Magistrate Solomon Setshedi said that Poloko will mention again on the 16th March 2023 for fact preparation. The offence carries an imprisonment term not exceeding seven years.
