Pensioner Used Aand Dumped By a Night Watchman For Another Woman

Mopegi Seikano, a night watchman at Diratsame CJSS in Moshupa dragged his ex girlfriend and Debswana pensioner, Mmathebe Kalane before Molepolole Magistrate court for abuse.

In her defence, Kalane told court that she has a pending issue with Seikano before a customary court. In the matter before the customary court, Kalane is suing Seikano to refund her the money she spent on helping him build his plot, buy a Camry, and other things which he is even using on his marriage preparations. Kalane says she spent half of her P300 000 pension on this man as she knew they had a future. The duo had been together for 8 years. “Nna tota ke batla a ntuele madi ame a a rekang dilo ka one ke sone se ke ileng lekgotleng la Setswana, it looks like ke motho o bosula now, mme ke ene a ntiretseng bosula,ke mo thusitse go aga, ke batla ditshenyegelo tsame” she said.

The Moshupa woman says she never abused the man as he claims. Kalane says she has even approached Legal Aid Botswana for assistance on the matter.

In an interview after court, the frastrated Kalane indicated that Seikano even came to court with his traditional doctor and his new girlfriend, something she termed disrespectful and a ploy to bewitch and destroy her.

When addressing court, Seikano asked court to order her to return his buglar door keys and she did. Kalane explained to court that they had keys to each other’s house as they were lovers. Kalane told court that their homes are within the same ward and only a tarred road separate them.

Kalane expressed shock that their conflict is before the magistrate court yet she has opened a case long before at the customary court. Furthermore, Kalane told magistrate Gaseitsiwe Tonoki that she will comply with the court directive not to call or go to his work place. She said although her kids attend the school where he works at, she will maintain her distance.

“Ke mo tshwere le mosadi o mongwe ke sone se a tsileng court a re ke a mo tshwenya,” she said.Magistrate Tonoki had this to say,” Rre yo a re wa mo tshwenya, ga a go batle ko a nnang teng, ko a berekelang teng. O seka wa tsena ko a nnang teng. Ko tirong ya gagwe ga o e ko go ene.”

The magistrate also explained that the matter before court is not breach of promise to marry so its a different matter from the one at the customary court. Magistrate Tonoki ruled that the order made on 3 August be made final. They are to maintain a 30m radius away from each other.

Seikano and his new girlfriend are planning to register their marriage in November.

Kalane asked if she can appeal and Tonoki said she can do so at High court within the stipulated time.
