Under the leadership of Council chairman Hon. Anderson Molemogi Mathibe, Letlhakeng District Council which was established on the 23rd December 2023 is already making significant progress towards improving the lives of its constituents.
When addressing a Kgotla meeting in Letlhakeng recently, Hon Mathibe indicated that branding of the new Council was progressing well after consultations were carried out across all the 23 villages.
Competition for secondary students to design the new Logo is currently ongoing and the winning students (Position 1 to 3) will be rewarded for their artistic excellence with laptops and tablets.
The following are some of the ongoing and planned projects to be carried out in the current financial year.
*Paving of Ralebakeng road through CCP at a cost of P1.6 million which will be carried out using the new Ipelegeng Skills Development Component.
*Installation of solar streetlights in Letlhakeng at a cost of P2.9 million. A local manufacturer of streetlights based in Selebi Phikwe has been awarded this project through direct procurement.
*Completion of Letlhakeng Bus Rank Project at a cost of P1.4 million and installation of solar streetlights at the bus rank at a cost of P600 000.00.
*Edge repair and road marking for internal roads in Letlhakeng at a cost of P1.2 million.
*Major maintenance at Letlhakeng Primary School at a cost of P2.3 million.
* Construction of 1 LA2 house in Letlhakeng at a cost of P650 000.00 using the new Ipelegeng Skills Development Component.
*Construction of Letlhakeng Primary Hospital during the Transitional National Development Plan for P20 million.
