Superintendent Moses Kwarare of Thamaga Police Station says they recorded a case in which an orange money agent was swindled of P43 500 by unknown thugs.
He said the culprits came approached the agent under the pretence of depositing money. They gave the agent the number but it was not registered for orange money.
The culprits then asked the agent to give them the phone as their battery was low. They quickly took the agent’s simcard and replaced it with theirs and left . They then distributed the money by sending to different numbers.
Kwarare advised orange money agents and those selling airtime against exchanging phones or batteries with clients.
