Kgari Sechele Senior Secondary School Class of ’97 alumni yesterday donated a Photocopier machine worth P15 000 to the school. The group has in the past provided financially assistance to the school during the school’s 60 years celebrations, construction of the assembly area and during prize giving ceremonies to motivate both the students and teachers.
When receiving the Photocopier, the Head teacher, Ms Kebobone expressed gratitude for the donation and the group’s continued support. She noted that the machine came at a very crucial time of examinations. She expressed that for a long time the school struggled to make copies for students examinations and generally for use at the library. Ms Kebobone further noted that the partnership between the school and Class of ’97 was bearing fruits as there is tremendous improvement in the students behavior and attitude towards learning.
The Parent and Teachers Association Chairperson, Ms. Mongalelwa also thanked the group for their continued efforts to uplift the school. ” We are grateful to have you as our partners in making Kgari Sechele great again, we need people like you to motivate our students to see the value in learning and excellence” she said.
The Senior teacher- Library, Mr Tseleng appreciated the donation and noted that the machine will greatly make his job easier at the library. He indicated that most library books were now in a bad state and had to be removed from the shelves as students tear off pages from the books to compile folios for thier ongoing assessments. The machine will therefore be used to make copies of the relevant sections of a book for students to deter vandalizing the books by students.
The Chairperson of Class of ’97 Mr. Thabo Morotsi when handing over the Photocopier on behalf of the group, expressed thier commitment and continued support for the school. “We hope this donation will assist you in realising your dream of being one of the best performing schools in the country, we also encourage other former students to come on board, for this school to return to its glory days it will need more than just committed students and teachers but a formidable collaboration by all stakeholders” he said.
The event was graced by the school community including school management, non teaching staff, representatives from the Parent and Teachers Association and the Class of ’97 members.
